40 Days for Life

This is a Christian national event that takes place beginning September 24th and runs through November 2nd. St. Francis de Sales has chosen 10/04 as our coverage date to have a prayerful presence at the Amethyst Women’s Clinic on Forestwood Lane in Manassas from 7am to 7pm. Different parishes in the area are choosing dates so that the entire 40 days has a presence at the abortion clinic. Rite of Christian
Initiation of Adults (RCIA)

What is the RCIA?
The RCIA process is a journey of faith:
~ through the initial stages of asking and seeking,
~ through beginning involvement with faithful Catholics,
~ through hearing the Gospel proclaimed and by faithful reflection and prayer on this Word of God,
~ through study and discussions about Catholic teaching and way of life,
~ through doubts and hesitations,
~ through a growing desire to serve and love others,
~ through discernment of God’s call to each human life,
~ through the steps of commitment,
~ through the sacraments of initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist)

Who should consider the RCIA Process?

1. Adults who have never been baptized
2. Adults who were baptized in another Christian faith and wish to make their profession of faith and enter into full communion with the Catholic Church through the sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist
3. Adults who were baptized Catholic, but have not yet received the sacraments of Confirmation or the Eucharist in order to complete their initiation into the Church.
All are welcome to attend the class as a refresher course in the faith as well.

Christian Family Movement (CFM)
Christian Family Movement is a national network of parish-centered small groups of Catholics and their families. Through prayer, discussion, and action, families grow in their faith while providing support and friendship to one another. We meet monthly in one another’s homes while children play together under the watch of babysitters. Quarterly service projects, faith gatherings, and social events also build the faith and the relationships of the families in the group. The U.S. Catholic Bishops recommend CFM, a member of the National Association of Catholic Family Life Ministers (see www.cfm.org). If you would like to join or just want to learn more about CFM at our parish, contact Beth and Dan McKenna at bethmckenna@verizon.net.
